Work Experiences
Below you will find a brief description of some, but not all, of my work experiences. The examples below were chosen because I believe that they had the biggest influence on my life and the development of my working career. All images below are taken from the respective jobs.
Troller Point Fisheries
Fisherman
Fishing out of Sitka, Alaska, the Ocean Oasis fishes primarily for Salmon but will also bring in Rock Fish, Halibut and Cod among many other fish. The Ocean Oasis utilizes a trolling fishing method to ensure that no other species are harmed in the process. The Ocean Oasis prides itself on producing the highest quality of fish which are given a shashimi grade due to the cleaning process and the cleanliness of the fishing environment. The Ocean Oasis also prides itself on processing, packaging and selling all of their own fish to help bring the best product to the customers.

During my time on the Ocean Oasis my official job title was a fisherman. This title includes catching and harvesting the fish, cleaning the fish, keep the back deck clean and storing the fish down in the fish hole which was kept at -30 degrees Fahrenheit. Although these were my main duties I also took on the role of navigating the ocean waters at night when we had to drive to a new fishing location, making the food for myself and the crew as well as helping the captain locate the schools of salmon on the GPS on board.

Obviously this experience is very unique and one that taught me a lot of good lesson both for my life and my working career. During this time I really learned how to work at an optimal level while tired both mentally and physically. I learned how to put in 17 hour days and stay alert and focused on the task at hand. I also learned that in life you really need very little material things to be happy and inversely how much you should appreciate everything that you do have. Dalgarno Construction
Carpenter
Dalgarno Construction is the premiere building company in the San Juan islands located in Washington state. Although most customers wish to have their names and homes kept secret, it can be said that most if not all the homes that have been built have been multi-million dollar homes which utilize hidden doors and unique interiors. Although the Company is based out of Orcas Island the company has built homes all over the San Juan Islands.

My official title at the company was a carpenter. Although the company is known for their amazing finish work the carpenters also do concrete work, framing, installation of structural features such as catwalks and metal framing, roofing, flooring and siding among others. The carpenters will also help with any other subcontractors which come to the job site like electricians, plumbers and drywaller installers. Similar to the Troller Point Fisheries position, this job further taught me how to work while I was tired and how to maintain the quality of my work during difficult times. This job also taught me how to work on a large team to accomplish a shared goal and meet deadlines. Most of all though this job taught me how to troubleshoot problems in which I was not trained in. many times something will break on the job site and it was my job to figure out how to fix it. Many times since this experience I have been in a situation in which I had to teach myself a new skill and I can firmly say I would not have been as well equipped for these situations without going through the experience which I did with this job. Finally I learned from this job that no matter how large the problem is, if you break it down into smaller and smaller problems and accomplish those, you can accomplish anything. Apartment Rentals Inc.
Maintenance
Apartment Rentals Inc is a company located out of Pullman, Washington which services and house many college students that attend Washington State University. Apartment Rentals has 9 different locations both in Pullman Washington and Moscow Idaho, each of which can house upward of 120 people at any given time.

My official title during my time at Apartment Rentals was a Maintenance man. Although this was my official title my duties truly encompassed anything that went wrong within the apartment complexes. Sometimes I would work on easy projects like laying down carpet, patching holes or changing outlets. Other times I was tasked to work on much larger projects like figuring out why the washer dryer unit wasn't working or opening up a wall and fixing a damaged electrical wire. Either way every day was a new issue and it was singularly my job to solve these issues. Through my experiences at this company I truly learned how to be the lead man on a project. I learned how to meet deadlines and solve issues on my own. Much like the construction job, I learned how to teach myself on the spot. Finally I learned through this job that in life there will be times where the solution may not always be obvious but if you keep working on the problem you will find some way to overcome it.
